We monitor water quality
Aguas del Arco Mediterráneo (Agamed) has extended the controls carried out on the water it supplies through a programme of ‘water control in consumers’ taps’.
This programme consists of taking double samples, i.e. an initial sample from the network before it enters private installations and another one directly from private homes, public buildings and companies.
These samples are analysed and compared to detect possible anomalies in the indoor installations (indoor pipes, shared tanks, etc.). This sampling campaign is voluntary and involves no extra cost.Testing tap water is a legal requirement stipulated in Royal Decree 140/2003, and promoted by Torrevieja Town Council and Agamed to improve the town’s drinking water service.
-
Campaign objectives
- To identify the quality of the drinking water in consumers’ taps in Torrevieja.
- To establish the state of indoor drinking water distribution installations and detect possible deficiencies.
- To supplement characterisation of drinking water quality in the distribution network and detect and correct possible deficiencies in the town’s drinking water distribution network.
-
Sampling system
- Samples are taken by Agamed personnel. Company staff visit homes or businesses with their accreditation, having first arranged a time with the customer by phone. The forecast for the year 2022 is to carry out 60 double analyses (connection and tap sampling). Of the samples, 20 correspond to public buildings, 10 to businesses and 30 to private homes. Depending on the geography of the supply, the samples will be divided into those corresponding to the North Zone and those corresponding to the South Zone.
- After completing the tests, a full report is sent to the customer. If any incidents in the quality of the tap water are detected, Agamed will contact the customer and offer recommendations to solve the problem. Remember, these tests come at no extra cost.
