" "

It is thus structured along the lines set out in Agamed's Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development 2017-2021, the REwater Global Plan, which is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDA) of the UN's Agenda 2030 and its specific targets.

This report also includes the main milestones achieved by the company in 2019, including environmental action programmes in the Municipal Natural Park of Molino del Agua, the launch of the Agamed laboratory, environmental actions and the renewal of the company's Board of Directors, among others.

Commitment to people

In addition to providing solutions to deal with water stress, Agamed works to guarantee access to water by boosting social funds and tariffs for vulnerable groups.

For this reason, in the last year, it has covered the payment of the bill of 325 families through the social fund, made interest-free payment commitments of 460,000 euros and implemented our payment methods as '12 drops', through which any customer pays a fixed monthly fee and at the end of the year, consumption and amounts are regularised.

In terms of public awareness, the report highlights the environmental education campaigns adapted to all ages, visits to facilities and water tasting sessions.

Commitment to the environment

Among the main figures in the environmental field in 2019, the reduction in water consumption by 5.8% compared to the previous year stands out. This is a highly representative figure that consolidates the downward trend of recent years, as water consumption per inhabitant per day has been reduced by 38 litres since 2007. These figures are the result of the company's constant commitment to the application of innovative solutions, the work carried out on the integral water cycle facilities and a greater social awareness of the responsible use of the resource. In this way, for example, the company has invested a total of 2 million euros in the last year through its renovation and investment funds.

In terms of energy efficiency, Agamed has avoided the emission of 2,744 tCO2 thanks to 100% of the purchase of renewable electricity and 15 tCO2 from the gradual renewal of the vehicle fleet by electric vehicles.

The management of the Torrevieja water treatment plant is another example of the company's environmental commitment. For example, in the last year, 9 Tn of waste was recovered for agriculture and energy production and 100% of the regenerated water has been reused.

As part of the protection of biodiversity, Agamed is working on the naturalisation of facilities linked to the integral water cycle. Thus, the company is committed to the elimination of the use of phytosanitary products and pesticides, the development of initiatives to eliminate invasive exotic species, and the installation of nesting boxes for birds, shelters for bats or connectivity and fauna passages, among others. It also carries out reforestation campaigns and environmental volunteer programmes.

On the other hand, Agamed has made an important commitment to innovation. Thus, it has numerous technologies that allow it to control drinking water, sanitation and rainwater networks in real time, systems for the detection and early warning of floods, models to detect the state of infrastructures and analysis of responsible investments and solutions for the optimisation of work on the ground, among others.

Commitment to the workforce

With regard to Agamed's work with its staff, it is worth highlighting its equality plan, the achievement of the Bequal PLUS Seal awarded by the Bequal Foundation certifying it as a socially responsible company with disability, and the renewal in November 2019 of the EFR (family-friendly company) certificate which accredits it as an entity committed to continuous improvement in the design and implementation of measures for the reconciliation of personal and professional life.

Likewise, the commitment of the company and its staff to health and safety has led the company to register 0 accidents with sick leave in 2019.

Certifications

Agamed has a large number of certifications that corroborate the work it carries out. Thus, in addition to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001; it has ISO 22000 which ensures the quality of the water supplied in the municipality of Torrevieja.
