Insect and rat disinfestation for the sewer system

INSECT AND RAT DISINFESTATION FOR THE SEWER SYSTEM

Pest control is carried out yearly in the sewer system to eliminate the rodents and crawling insects that may appear. This requires specific insect and rat disinfestation treatments throughout the year.

Yearly calendar:

  • Rat disinfestation campaigns

Two shock campaigns together with a maintenance campaign in July and August are carried out, rotating between zones and taking into account pest levels detected in each one.

  • Insect disinfestation campaigns

    • The first campaign will cover all manholes in the town centre (100% of the sewer system).
    • The second campaign will take place in the autumn, focussing particularly on the most problematic areas detected in the first campaign, based on the levels detected and warnings received.
  • Public service hotline

Throughout the year, the public can provide warning and emergency notifications to AGAMED using the CONTACT, option. These will be answered as quickly as possible (maximum 48 h) depending on the degree of urgency.

The scheduled dates for insect and rat disinfestation are:

The treatments use an environmentally harmless product that does not interfere with subsequent wastewater treatment. In each campaign, information stickers are attached to the covers of treated manholes.

AGAMED recommends periodic insect and rat disinfestation in the indoor installations of homes and businesses coinciding with the municipal network treatment periods.
