Water distribution in Torrevieja

The drinking water supply system for the municipality of Torrevieja consists of a distribution network that receives water from different points and transports it to Torrevieja homes and residents.

The Torrevieja distribution network covers 691,883 meters of supply network, including both the network bringing water from the Canales de Taibilla Municipal Association delivery points and the distribution pipelines in the town centre and suburbs of Torrevieja.

In recent years, older fibre cement (FBA) has gradually been removed, as required by law, to be replaced mainly by ductile casting. This much more modern material offers advantages in terms of durability and health.

Geographic information system (GIS)

As the company responsible for managing the complete water cycle in Torrevieja, in recent years Agamed has prioritised actions that ensure correct management policies for efficient and sustainable use of water.

The geographic information system (GIS) implemented in Torrevieja facilitates sustainable use of our supply network. Among other things, the software has enabled us to improve meter reading and billing processes and manage the performance of specific sectors of the distribution network.

This makes it possible to know how much, how and when water is consumed, permitting its reduction, diagnosis of facilities and identification of improvements to supply.

The tool also helps identify who will be affected by cuts to the drinking water supply so they can be sent notifications by text or email.
