Agamed joins the Red Cross RESPONDS initiative to help families affected by the COVID-19 crisis

Agamed has joined the "Red Cross RESPONDS" initiative. A comprehensive plan launched by the Spanish Red Cross to assist people in vulnerable situations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The entity will allocate 1 euro to the cause for each new customer who registers in the 'Customer Area' of the website until 31 December. By registering in the customer area, customers can consult their bills and carry out all their transactions quickly, conveniently and safely, without leaving home.

The initiative has also been opened up to the company's staff to make it easier for them to join the campaign by making their financial contributions.

The benefits will be aimed at responding to the health, social, educational or employability needs of the groups most affected by the pandemic in the province of Alicante.

Specifically, in this region, the Red Cross RESPONDE programme has carried out a total of 132,402 activities through 2,195 volunteers. These actions include the delivery of basic necessities and economic deliveries; shelter, direct care and psychosocial support; health transfers, accompaniment and care for people in the street; as well as telephone calls and training in COVID-19; among others.

This project seeks to help those people and families who have been most affected by the current crisis, while avoiding the displacement of people to the offices, with the consequent risks, to make arrangements that can be made through the channels of non-presential care.

"Protecting vulnerable groups, ensuring the safety and health of people, offering quality care and seeking partnerships with other entities are objectives that mark our daily work in Agamed," said Gemma Cruz, assistant manager of the company. "This collaboration also joins other aid that Agamed has offered during the crisis, mainly for the purchase of food for the most vulnerable families in Torrevieja. These contributions have been made through Cáritas, AMFA and Alimentos Solidarios" added Cruz.

Through this partnership with the Red Cross RESPONDS, Agamed is also actively contributing to the implementation of ODS 1 "Ending Poverty", ODS 3 "Health and Wellness" and ODS 17 "Partnerships to Achieve the Goals".

On the other hand, in order to avoid this risk mentioned by the face-to-face attention, Agamed is working on a model of personalized, specialized, safe, accessible and responsible customer service for all users.

At a national level, the Red Cross RESPONDS programme aims to assist more than 1,350,000 people and mobilise more than 40,000 volunteers through its more than 1,400 points of care.
